On Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 3-5 p.m.,San Pablo City Hall will host a Demonstration Day for several of the skilled trade unions, as well as local training organizations that offer pre-apprenticeship training to help people prepare to enter the trades. The different trades will demonstrate their work, including a live soldering demonstration, a virtual reality display of ironworkers’ projects, hands-on and interactive displays, videos of skilled trades workers on the job, and more.
The trades offer fantastic career opportunities, with excellent compensation and terrific benefits including generous retirement plans. The trades are also actively recruiting new workers, as demographic changes mean many older workers are retiring and thousands of new trades workers are needed. The trades are also actively recruiting women to join.
San Pablo City Hall is located at 1000 Gateway Ave. Ample free parking is behind City Hall and in nearby lots, and the 72 and 72R AC Transit bus lines run nearby on San Pablo Avenue. The event is hosted by the San Pablo Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with Rising Sun Center For Opportunity and the Contra Costa Building & Construction Trades Council.
