The San Pablo Cowboys started practicing for their upcoming season at the city’s Davis Park, but they’re still looking to round up more boys and girls ages 5-to-14-years-old to join the tackle football team.

“I’m excited to announce the San Pablo Cowboys youth football teams are now accepting sign-ups,” said organization President and Coach Andre Williams, adding, “Please come on out to our kid friendly environment. Our coaches would love to have you.”

Practices at the San Pablo park take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Teams offered by the Cowboys span the gamut from 6-and-under to 14-and-under. The fee for participating on the team is $300.

“Coaches are very good mentors to both young men and ladies of our community—we teach the game the right way. We love empowering our youth,” Williams told the Standard.

According to the football organization, coaches are also needed this season to help run the various age-defined teams within the greater team. Those interested can contact Williams at the number listed below.

This year marks the tenth year since the San Pablo Cowboys were founded. The nonprofit organization’s mission is to serve its youth population with activities aimed at health, education and life skills, according to its Facebook page.

John Herbert Davis Park, more commonly known as “Davis Park,” is located at 1661 Folsom Ave. in San Pablo. To register to become a San Pablo Cowboy, or a coach, contact Andre Williams at (510) 978-6876. Check out the team’s Instagram page for the latest updates.
