The Save Mart Companies’ CARES Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2025–2026 Feeding Forward Grant, aimed at combating hunger and enhancing food recovery infrastructure in California and Western Nevada. In celebration of the foundation’s 20th anniversary, this grant cycle focuses on bolstering nonprofit organizations that recover and redistribute food to those in need.
Eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits can apply for grants ranging from $20,000 to $200,000 to fund critical infrastructure such as cold storage, refrigerated vehicles, warehouse improvements, and other essential equipment for food recovery and distribution. This initiative aligns with California’s SB 1383 regulations, which mandate the reduction of organic waste and the recovery of edible food.
Applications are open through Aug. 11. Interested organizations can apply through The Save Mart Companies’ community page.
Since its inception in 2000, the CARES Foundation has donated over $5 million to support programs addressing youth, education, the arts, health, and food insecurity. The foundation reviews grant applications quarterly, emphasizing the importance of community impact and organizational effectiveness.
