Pinole is warning residents and drivers to steer clear of Orleans Drive after a section of the road collapsed late last night, prompting an urgent and ongoing safety response by city crews and East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD).
At approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, a segment of Orleans Drive gave way unexpectedly. The cause is still under investigation, with EBMUD personnel on-site working to determine what led to the failure. Orleans Street is closed from Zoe Street to the end. All intersecting cross-streets are also inaccessible.
Steel plates have been installed over the affected area, and Public Works was working to clear debris.
Pedestrians must use sidewalks and stay clear of the collapse zone.
For questions or to report concerns, the city encourages residents to call (510) 724‑9010 or submit a service request through its online portal.
