Woman arrested in wake of North Richmond murder

A 61-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of committing murder in North Richmond Wednesday morning, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at about 10:02 a.m. to a report of a person bleeding on the sidewalk near Market Avenue and 6th Street. The person, who was not identified, died at the scene.

During the initial investigation, deputies identified 61-year-old Terri James of Richmond as a suspect. James was later taken into custody by Sheriff’s Office detectives and subsequently booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for murder. She is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, deputies said.
