Hercules police unveil outcome of DUI checkpoint

Hercules police unveil results of DUI checkpoint

One driver was arrested on DUI charges and another seven were cited for being unlicensed during a DUI checkpoint in Hercules on Friday, Dec. 20.

In total, 1,018 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, located near the Hercules Safeway on San Pablo Avenue near Sycamore Avenue. Six drivers were tested for suspicion of DUI, according to the Hercules Police Department.

The checkpoint was made possible with support from the Pinole Police Department, CHP, Kensington Police Department, the San Pablo Police Department, the El Cerrito Police Department and the Brentwood Police Department.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
