Neighborhood Champion Maria Alvarado will lead the community cleanup event, “San Pablo Shines,” Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to noon in the city’s “Old Town.”

The group will meet up at 1701 Bush Ave. at the corner of 17th Street in San Pablo and then fan out to clean the neighborhood along Bush and Pine Avenues.

Cleanup supplies will be provided to all volunteers, who are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and bring a reusable water bottle. The San Pablo Shines event will occur rain or shine.

Organizers will express their gratitude to volunteers by hosting a raffle for them sometime that day.

As a San Pablo Neighborhood Champion, Alvarado is among those who are paid to actively help enhance the cleanliness of the city as part of the San Pablo Shines beautification campaign. The champions aim to help revitalize Old Town and achieve goals such as reducing illegal dumping, raising awareness about free waste disposal and fostering civic pride by helping to keep the city litter-free.
