Dozens of inland East Bay parks will be closed on Sunday and Monday due to an excessive heat wave warning that poses high fire risk, the East Bay Regional Park District announced Thursday.
The National Weather Sesrvice issued heat warnings for inland areas from Thursday through the Labor Day weekend, when temperatures in Contra Costa and Alameda counties are expected to exceed 90 degrees. By Monday, temperatures are forecast to reach 110 degrees in Brentwood and at least 104 in Concord, Walnut Creek, Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore.
In response, EBRPD’s fire chief ordered the closing of the parks listed below on Sunday and Monday. Note that all shoreline parks will remain open.
