San Pablo man investigated for possession of child pornography

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is investigating a San Pablo man on suspicion of possession of child pornography.

Francisco Perez, 34, was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on Nov. 20 on one count of possession of child pornography, but he has since been released pending further investigation, the sheriff’s office said today.

Following a community tip, the sheriff’s office launched an investigation into Perez. Detectives obtained search warrants on Perez’s home, computers and other electronic devices. They learned Perez was previously employed by a food service company that provided food to San Domenico School in San Anselmo, and that he used the false name of Mario Arguetta at that time.

“There is no evidence to suggest any student has been a victim,” according to the sheriff’s office statement.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who might have information on the case to call the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office or the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
