One arrested after shooting near Market Ave. and 23rd St.

A man was arrested in connection with a shooting near Market Avenue and 23rd Street on Friday night, police said.

San Pablo police officer Shuan Swaleh was out on patrol about 10 p.m. when he heard a gunshot and saw a car leaving the area very quickly, according to the San Pablo Police Department. The officer stopped the car and the driver claimed someone had been shooting at him.

The driver, who was wearing a bullet proof vest, also informed the officer he had a gun on him. A gun was located and the driver was arrested and transported to the Martinez Jail, police said.
