Richmond man arrested on charges of trying to meet minor for sex in El Cerrito

San Pablo police investigate report of shooting

A 46-year-old Richmond man was charged Friday with arranging to meet a minor for sex, prosecutors said.

In late July, John Vinoya believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl, but was instead communicating with an undercover police officer, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

On Aug. 2, he arrived at the residence intending to meet her for sex, prosecutors said, and was arrested and booked into county jail.

Vinoya was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning on charges of arranging to meet a minor for sex, enticing a minor online, first-degree burglary and attempted lewd acts with a child, prosecutors said.
