Jersey Mike’s Subs, a popular sandwich maker with 1,500 franchises nationwide, opened in San Pablo early this month.
The new franchise owned by Indy and Meet Pahwa is located at 30 D San Pablo Towne Center. It opens from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, according to a company statement.
On Thursday, June 7, the San Pablo Economic Development Corp. has scheduled a lunch-time grand opening at Jersey Mike’s, from noon to 1 p.m. RSVP for the event here.
It will be an introduction to the franchise owners, who have already begun acquainting their business with the community. The Pahwas held a soft-opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, May 2 through Sunday, May 6 in support of Lifelong Brookside Medical. They circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to Lifelong Brookside Medical, according to the company.
“We are excited and honored to be part of an organization like Jersey Mike’s that gives back at both a local and national level and we look forward to building a long-term relationship with our community,” Indy Pahwa said in a statement.
The restaurant is already getting positive reviews. Staff from the San Pablo Economic Development Corp. visited Jersey Mike’s during the soft-opening and were impressed by the sandwiches, including the “Juice at Jersey Mike’s,” a signature red wine vinegar and olive oil blend added to the sandwiches.
“The tuna sub Mike’s Way is an obsession. I think about it all the time,” says Leslay Choy, San Pablo EDC general manager.
Jersey Mike’s started in 1956 and was named the country’s fastest-growing sandwich chain in the 2017 Nation’s Restaurant News Top 100. The company says its subs are made with store-baked bread, fresh vegetables — onions, lettuce and tomatoes — and premium meats and cheeses “sliced on the spot.”
