The Curious Taxpayer: Meet County Auditor-Controller Bob Campbell

In this installment of The Curious Taxpayer, here’s an opportunity to learn more about the many important functions of the Contra Costa County Auditor-Controller.

What does the County Auditor-Controller do? How does it help my taxes? On March 5 from 6:30-8 p.m., Contra Costa Auditor-Controller Bob Campbell will appear at the Pinole Library, 2935 Pinole Valley Rd., to answer questions about his five divisions and how they relate to the offices of the Tax Collector, Assessor and other County functions. 

The event is free and open to all and is hosted by the West County Chapter of the Contra Costa Taxpayers Association (CoCoTax).

Contra Costa is a geographically diverse and varied county, and many of the needs and issues of West County are unique.  The Auditor Controller website states the primary mission is to ensure “the fiscal integrity of the County’s financial records and to provide service, assistance and information to the Public, Board of Supervisors, County Administrator’s Office, County Departments and Employees, Special Districts and some regional non-county agencies.”

That general description only briefly explains what the 50-member office does on a daily basis, serving the public with numerous financial matters.
