Brezo Restaurant, the new eatery set to open in the historic Baltic building at 135 Park Place in Pt. Richmond, is set to make its debut Feb. 10.
The new restaurant was originally set to debut for lunch on Wednesday, but the grand opening was set back due to weather-related power outages.
The highly-anticipated new eatery will launch lunch service. It will also serve weekend brunch starting at 8 a.m. and then open for dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 5:30 p.m.
As we’ve reported in the past, the restaurant’s owners, Hector Hernandez and Heather Mervine, are fulfilling a dream by opening Brezo. The eatery will serve California dishes with a Latin flair using sustainable and organic ingredients from local farms.
The Baltic building most recently was a bar providing German food and live music. It closed about a year ago. Mayor Tom Butt has promoted the coming of Brezo multiple times in his e-forum newsletter.
The historic building at 135 Park Place was constructed in 1904 and has served over the years “as a saloon, city hall, residence, funeral parlor, speakeasy, house of prostitution, storage area and restaurant” and was also mentioned in works by Jack London, according to the Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau.
