Only a seven minute bike ride from Richmond BART Station to ‘Dirt World’

A new city park under construction along a 2.1-acre section of the Richmond Greenway will serve riders of both BMX and mountain bikes.

The park, located on the Greenway trail between 23rd and 20th streets and parallel to Ohio and Chanslor avenues, is set to be called “Dirt World.” As a new YouTube video promotes, the park is only a seven-minute bike ride from the Richmond BART Station.

The project includes construction of a pump track, jumps for riders of all skill levels, a BMX race track, wooden wall rides and ladder bridges, and an area specifically for very young riders, including children on Strider-type push bikes.

Former BMX professional and known track builder Alex Fowler is leading the installation through his company, Action Sports Construction

According to Dirt World’s website, the project has the city’s support but still must raise funds to complete construction and create programs for local youth. To donate, scroll to the bottom of Dirt World’s homepage.

The project is led by the Dope Sauce Bike Club, Rich City Rides, and the Richmond BMX Crew.
