Richmond man fatally shot following club altercation


William Sims, 28, of Richmond was fatally shot in El Sobrante on Saturday night — and authorities are seeking the public’s help in finding who committed the murder.

The homicide occurred shortly after 2 a.m., when a Contra Costa sheriff’s deputy driving along Appian Way near Garden Lane discovered Sims lying injured in the road. Sims, a musician and retail worker, died at the scene despite efforts by medics.

Sims was at the Capri Club in the 4100 block of Appian Way when an altercation occurred, detectives believe. He has no known gang ties and no criminal history, deputies said.
