Volunteers encouraged to help plant 20 redwood trees in Boorman Park

Richmond group sets goal to plant 40 trees in Atchison Village Park on Cesar Chavez Day

Volunteers are encouraged to help local nonprofits plant 20 redwood trees at Richmond’s Boorman Park on Nov. 19.

Richmond Trees is partnering with The Watershed Project to plant the trees at the park at S. 25th Street and Maine Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon.

The event ushers in the tree planting season, officials said.

“We are eager to grab our shovels and get to work planting new trees in Richmond,” the latest Richmond Trees newsletter stated.

The newsletter added:

“We do this work because we believe in a positive future. Through the simple act of planting trees, we are transforming our city, creating a healthier, happier place to live. And while we do this work, we also meet neighbors and make new friends. We are building community and that feels good.”
