The community is invited to help local youth aesthetically enhance the North Richmond Ball Field on March 31.
Students from Richmond elementary, middle and high schools will paint and mulch at the ball field near Fred Jackson Way and Da Villa. They are doing so as part of the Love Your Block Initiative, a Cities of Service program offering mini-grants toward community-led projects that address blight and improve quality of life.
This cleanup effort was launched by the Contra Costa County Service Integration Family Service Center Afterschool Program. The program’s students are “young change agents eager to demonstrate positive life changes in the community,” officials said. The ball park enhancements are just one of the Love Your Block initiatives the afterschool program kids plan to carry out.
Youth, who will be joined by staff and other volunteers, are asking the community to come help out on the ball field March 31.
All volunteers must register at the Contra Costa County Service Integration Family Service Center, 1535 Fred Jackson Way, by March 29.
