Richmond police laud sentencing of two local drug dealers

Richmond police are lauding the sentencing last month of two local men who were busted earlier this year with 250 grams of heroin, seven loaded firearms and $125,000 in cash in a Southern District home.

Ralph Franklin, 55, was sentenced to 13.8 years in prison and Donald Clark, 55, received 12 years, police Lt. Felix Tan said Friday.

Their illegal activity was discovered after police received community tips about their drug house. In January of this year, narcotics detectives began surveillance of the home, Tan said. That operation led to a search warrant in March and the arrests of Franklin and Clark.

Items found during the search included 250 grams of heroin with a street value of $25,000. The seven loaded firearms found included a Ruger .223 assault rifle; SLR-95 assault riffle; Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver; MAC 9 assault pistol; Glock 17 pistol, Glock 21 pistol; and Masterpiece .45 caliber assault pistol. Several loaded extended magazines for the pistols and rifles were also found along with drug scales, $125,000 in cash and other paraphernalia.

The seized money will help fund the district attorney’s office and will also be shared among county agencies, Tan said.
