A 20-year-old Richmond woman was arrested last weekend on charges including false impersonation after police say she gave her sister’s name while being questioned about a crashed stolen rental car.
The incident unfolded about 12:55 p.m. Saturday when the woman, who was driving without a license, got into an accident at the intersection of Carlson Boulevard and El Dorado Street, according to El Cerrito police.
Following records checks of the vehicles involved in the crash, police discovered the 20-year-old was in possession of a rental car that had not been returned to its rental company and had thus been reported stolen.
She was promptly arrested, but when asked for her identification “the woman gave her sister’s name” instead, police said.
After learning her real name, cops also learned she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.
The woman, whose identity wasn’t immediately known, was booked on multiple charges and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
