Richmond police respond to hot-prowl burglary, find boozed-up Goldilocks

Richmond police officers, believing they were about to encounter a burglar in the yard of a home near Kennedy High School early Friday, said they instead found a drunken neighbor who thought he was in his own yard.

Officers responded to a call at 1:28 a.m. in the 4700 block of Castilla Avenue about a burglary in progress, Richmond police spokesperson Nicole Abetkov said.

“We responded with the belief he was attempting to burglarize the house due to the information provided by the caller,” Abetkov said. “Once we arrived we discovered he was at the wrong house.”

The 21-year-old man, whose identity wasn’t immediately available, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, Abetkov said.
