Authorities conducted a “high risk” vehicle stop in Richmond Tuesday afternoon after watching two felons toss ammunition from a car window, police said.
The incident unfolded about 1:30 p.m. near 7th St. and Lincoln Ave. when an officer and his trainee recognized a female felon who was driving a vehicle with expired registration, police spokesperson Nicole Abetkov said.
As the officer prepared to stop the vehicle for the violation, the driver allegedly handed a man in the passenger seat an object, which he threw out of the car window.
“The officers saw the item was two ammunition holders which were discovered later to hold 10 (each) 7.62 caliber bullets,” Abetkov said.
No weapons were found in the car, and both suspects were booked for being felons in possession of ammunition.
