Two shootings in North Richmond injure three people

Richmond residents awakened by 11 gunshots Friday morning

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate shootings in North Richmond that injured three people.

Deputies responded to a report of shots fired at 10:19 p.m. Monday in the area of 5th Street and Chesley Avenue, sheriff’s spokesperson Jimmy Lee said. While at the scene, they received a report from Doctors Medical Center that a 17-year-old shooting victim had arrived at the San Pablo hospital. The teen was treated and released.

Then at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, two shooting victims arrived at DMC who had apparently been shot in the 1700 block of Harold Street in North Richmond. One of the victims, age 25, was treated and released while a 24-year-old man was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

The shooting remains under investigation, Lee said.
