Evangelist Kirk Cameron, best known as the actor who played Mike Seaver in the 1980s sitcom “Growing Pains,” is bringing his national tour, Love Worth Fighting For, to a Richmond church next month.
Cameron will reportedly use the Bible to teach attendees how to strengthen their marriage at Hill Top Community Church on Feb. 16.
The actor will go over the “keys for fireproofing your marriage.”
“Instead of saying, ‘God, give me a new wife,’ we ought to be praying, ‘God, give my wife a new me,'” Cameron told his audience in this YouTube clip from a past event.
Cameron recently had the top grossing independent film of 2008, Fireproof, and also released a documentary, Monumental.
His speaking tour, Love Worth Fighting For, has been held in churches in 150 cities. According to organizers, Cameron and his wife, Chelsea, were on-screen sweethearts during the filming of Growing Pains. While Cameron was an atheist as a teenager, he converted to Christianity during the Growing Pains years. Cameron and his wife live in California with their six children and are the founders of Camp Firefly, where terminally ill and seriously ill children and their families are given an all-expense paid retreat.
