Suspect in Benicia shooting found in San Pablo

The suspect in a double shooting in Benicia Tuesday night was arrested in San Pablo on Thursday — and the home police found him in contained a large illegal marijuana grow operation, police said.

Ernesto Ramon Alejandre, 21, of San Pablo (pictured) is suspected of shooting and injuring two people and was booked on attempted murder, robbery and burglary charges in connection with the case, Benicia police said. The victims of the shooting are expected to recover from their wounds.

An investigation led to a search warrant in San Pablo. Benicia investigators, San Pablo police and the Solano County Regional SWAT Team worked together to arrest Alejandre at a home in the 1300 block of Road 20 on Thursday, police said.

“The suspect attempted to flee the scene while armed with a handgun,” according to San Pablo police, who said they confronted him and took him into custody without anyone being injured.

Alejandre was in possession of a loaded .45 caliber handgun, and dozens of marijuana plants were found in a grow operation “throughout the home,” police said.

San Pablo police are investigating the grow. Alejandre was booked into Contra Costa County Jail.
