CHP asks for public's assistance in finding I-80 road rage shooter

The Contra Costa County coroner’s office on Wednesday identified the man who died in a traffic collision in El Sobrante Tuesday night as Cheyenne Boyer, 41.

The El Sobrante resident was killed in a multi-car crash at 5511 San Pablo Dam Road. at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday.

On his Facebook page, the news of Boyer’s death elicited hundreds of messages of shock and sadness from many in the community who he had touched. He was described as a loving father and a giving person.

“A truly giving person with a heart of gold,” one person posted.

Another said, “He was a kind soul. Good people. RIP.”

“Looking at all the love and sadness on your wall shows what an awesome person you were,” said yet another.

The crash was a head-on collision that involved three cars, according to the California Highway Patrol. Boyer was found unresponsive and trapped inside a Honda SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

According to the CHP investigation, Boyer was driving east on San Pablo Dam Road toward Terri Ann Lane when he crossed double yellow lines and hit two cars traveling west. Investigators do not yet know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
