San Pablo man killed while working in Walnut Creek; coworker arrested

A 60-year-old San Pablo man was fatally beaten by his coworker while working as a security guard at a construction site in Walnut Creek last week, police said.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Lacassie Avenue just before 7 p.m. Thursday. There, they pronounced Harry Edward Swayne III dead at the scene.

Concord resident Hakim Madjour, 34, was subsequently arrested on suspicion fatally attacking Swayne, his coworker, with a metal pole, resulting in severe head injuries.

“Evidence indicates Madjour violently and unexpectedly attacked the victim which led to his death,” police said.

Madjour was treated for minor injuries before being booked into jail on $1 million bail.
