Hundreds of youth ball players and their supporters marched the streets from Richmond City Hall to Nicholl Park on Saturday for the 2018 Richmond Little League Baseball & Girls Softball Opening Day Parade.
The parade route started at the Nevin Avenue and 24th street Parking lot, then proceeded on 24th to Macdonald Ave, then east on Macdonald to Nicholl Park.
Mayor Tom Butt helped kick off the opening day, where games from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.
Officials with the Richmond Little League were grateful for the support, particularly from its wide variety of sponsors who help make the youth activity possible.
They include the City of Richmond, Richmond Community Service Dept., RPAL, Richmond Friend’s of Recreation, Safeway’s Beverage Plant, Republic Services, San Rafael A & W’s Restaurant, Wheelhouse Academy, The Grout Guys, Mechanics Bank, Richmond Police Officers Association, BP Lubricants USA Inc., The Kiwanis Club, Chimes Printing, Portumex Restaurant, Phillips 66, Feagley Realty, Champion Scaffold Services, Rico Rincon & The Richmond Fire Department, First Bank & Zell & Associates.
