The Shops at Hilltop to host Community Chess Day this Saturday

The Shops at Hilltop will host a Community Chess Day this Saturday, March 10, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Lower Macy’s Court.

The West Coast Chess Alliance is teaming with the all-local mall tenant R & R Coffee to provide the free tournament.

“Everyone is invited,” said TC Ball aka “the Black Knight,” who runs the West Coast Chess Alliance in order to provide ample local opportunities to play the strategic game. “You will get an opportunity to play and meet new chess friends. Beginners are welcome, bring the whole family to enjoy some competitive fun.”

Along with a the chess tournament, there will also be fun chess activities such as causal play and chess instruction. Chess sets and clocks will be provided.

The event is supported by the “Richmond Chess Initiative,” which was launched by the West Coast Chess Alliance in an effort to increase chess opportunities in downtown Richmond and beyond.
