Bay Area Rescue Mission to hold black history month event Saturday

The Bay Area Rescue Mission is hosting a Black History Month event this Saturday, Feb. 24 that will feature speakers, music and spoken word/poetry.

The event, themed “Empowering and Enriching Your Soul,” is open to the public and will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alma Calton Educational Center at 2114 Macdonald Ave.

Founded in 1965, the Bay Area Rescue Mission provides a long and varied list of supportive services to local residents in need, including food, shelter, clothes, job and financial training, spiritual guidance and more.
