Today, San Pablo City Hall officials invited students from the Richmond High School Law Academy on a tour of the government center, as a way to both expose students to and prepare them for careers in local government.
Student tours were led by City Hall by Assistant City Manager Reina Schwartz at the first ever San Pablo City Hall Career Day, a collaborative event organized by the City of San Pablo’s Youth, School & Community Partnerships Division and the Richmond High School Law Academy.
For the juniors who attended, the event, which included several interactive workshops with city professionals, included a focus on job and resume skills, as they are eligible for paid summer internships at San Pablo City Hall, Law Academy teacher Ellen Rosenbluth said. For seniors who had already completed internships, they were getting a refresher, while sophomores observed the juniors.
Along with exposing the students to government careers, the program aims to increase awareness of programs and services available to San Pablo residents.
