East Brother Beer Co. is set to launch a new Rec Room league in its tap room at 1001 Canal Blvd. in Richmond, where members can compete in various games to accumulate points and rewards over time.
The league — humorously billed in a flyer as the Rec Room Parlor Games for the Non-Athlete — is set to hold competitions every Wednesday night from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting Feb. 14. With an annual membership, patrons can compete in a changing roster of games including bocce, ping pong, pool, cornhole, electronic darts, pinball and even a retro ’80s arcade game.
Each week, players show their membership cards to receive a Rec Room glass that earns them $1 off per pint. They then pick games to play, compete against other members and accumulate points (10 points for a win, 3 points for participating). The results will be recorded, and a master leaderboard will be maintained, with the highest scorers earning the right to compete in quarterly playoffs: a night of single elimination play that crowns a winner.
While the league launches Feb. 14, its official kick off will take place at East Brother Beer’s 2nd Annual Rec Room Party on Sunday, Feb. 11, from noon to 8 p.m., when the brewery will celebrate its first anniversary with live music, East Brother beer-infused barbeque and a new beer on tap that will not be revealed until San Francisco Beer Week.
Admission to the 2nd Annual Rec Room Party is free. For $20, however, attendees can purchase a ticket for a sampler plate of beer-infused food, a pint and Rec Room swag.
“The plate of food includes Oatmeal Stout chili, a Red Lager brat, mango Gold IPA coleslaw, Bo Pils chicken, and a Red IPA tri tip,” according to the brewery.
Along with the upcoming party, East Brother Beer is set to participate in several SF Beer Week events, including the Opening Gala on Friday, Feb. 9; the West Coast Craft Can Invitational at Devil’s Canyon Brewing on Saturday, Feb. 10; and collaborative events at Boo Koo in Mill Valley (Feb. 14) and Smoke in Berkeley (Feb. 16).
