A 20-year-old Emeryville man was arrested last week in connection with armed robberies in El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo — including an incident at the Burger King at 6021 Central Ave. on Friday, Jan. 5, according to the El Cerrito Police Department.
At 8:12 p.m. that night, the suspect ordered food at the drive thru before displaying a gun when he reached the window. The employee at the window complied to the suspect’s demand to hand over the till, which contained about $300, according to the report by police.
The following night, after police received reports of similar robberies occurring in Richmond and San Pablo, an officer with a description of the suspect vehicle took a position on Central Avenue with the expectation that the suspect would return to El Cerrito.
The officer subsequently spotted the vehicle, which was stopped and identified as being involved in a San Pablo robbery.
“Inside the vehicle a loaded pistol was located,” police said. “The pistol matched the description given to officers in the other cases.”
The driver, a 20-year-old male from Emeryville, was taken into custody.
“Additional police agencies met at the [El Cerrito Police Department] where the male was identified as the responsible in several other robberies throughout the area,” police said.
Further details about the case weren’t immediately known.
