Two high school seniors from Richmond were chosen to play in the Plays And Grades California Classic Senior Bowl on Sunday, a game involving star players from multiple states looking to impress college coaches and scouts.

Tre Vante Daniels of Ygnacio Valley High and Daylen Foster of Hercules High are set to participate in three days of festivities that includes not only the all-star game, but also a formal banquet along with a visitation to the University of Southern California for an academic summit, according to Richmond community advocate Rodney Alamo Brown.
The game is set for Sunday at Valencia High in Santa Clarita, where representatives from Division I and II schools will be on hand, Brown said.

Daniels, a 6-1, 180-pound cornerback/slotback is a two-sport athlete who has been attracting interest from multiple schools, including Concordia University Nebraska.

Foster, a 6-8,  300-pound lineman is a three-sport athlete. Idaho St. is among the schools interested in his talents, Brown said.

Daniels and Foster will play for the State of California Elite All star team that includes seniors from Sacramento to San Diego. Those all-star seniors from California will play a team of 45 players from Louisiana and Mississippi.

Keynote speakers at the banquet event in Granada Hills include former NFL star Lynn Swann and Brown, who will present Christian Richards, CEO of Plays and Grades Inc., with an award of recognition from Congressman Mark DeSaulnier’s office.

Richards, a football player for the University of California in the early 1980s, has worked feverishly to put together the California Classic event for eight continuous years.

Plays and Grades is a youth athlete case management organization providing full support to student-athletes, from academic performance to character-building. The group prepares student athletes for college, including by assisting with PSAT and SAT testing.
