Menbere Aklilu, owner of the popular Richmond restaurant, Salute E Vita, 1900 Esplanade Drive, has pledged to donate 20-percent of her restaurant’s proceeds on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, to the Richmond Fire and Police Holiday Program, to purchase bikes for local children.

When you enjoy a meal at Salute E Vita Ristorante in Richmond’s Marina Bay this Monday, you will provide much-needed funds for this Holiday Program.

This program provides registered local families with food, toys and a chance to receive a bike for the holidays, so their children can share in the joy of the holiday season.

Menbere is a well known local philanthropist and was a recipient of  the prestigious Jefferson Award honoring community volunteerism in 2015.  This Thanksgiving she again hosted more than 1,000 homeless people and families in need for a fine dining experience at her restaurant.

Richmond Rotary has matched the first $5,000 in funds raised for this program in 2017.  Those wishing to donate, who cannot be at Salute E Vita on Dec. 11, can go to the Rotary website at www.richmondcarotary.org and use the PayPal button at the bottom of the page to contribute towards a bike, or mail checks payable to Richmond Rotary Club, to 3260 Blume Drive, Suite 410,  Richmond, CA 94806.
