The nonprofit Richmond Trees is encouraging volunteers to participate in a planting event on Sunday, Dec. 10.
Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at Burg Park at 2910 Clinton Ave. in Richmond and to bring water, work gloves and tools if you have them.
“By planting trees, we are making our city healthier and more beautiful,” according to Richmond Trees. “By doing it as a community we are making a statement about what we value.”
Richmond Trees is an all-volunteer group of local residents formed in 2011 that aims to install a healthy urban forest covering at least 40-percent of the city. The organization not only plants trees, but cares for them with help from partnerships between community organizations and the city. For more information, visit the Richmond Trees website.
