A man pushing a shopping cart across the street was fatally struck by a vehicle in Richmond on Tuesday night, according to police.
The victim, described as being in his 60s or 70s, was struck about 5:30 p.m. on 26th Street between McBryde and Andrade avenues, away from the intersection, police said. The driver stayed at the scene of the collision and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 26th Street was blocked off from McBryde to Andrade as police continued their investigation.
The man’s identity was not being released as authorities worked to notify his relatives.
