Mother, infant struck by vehicle in San Pablo crosswalk

A mother and her infant were struck by a car while in a crosswalk at El Portal and Mission Bell drives in San Pablo Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The 31-year-old mom was pushing her child in a stroller at about noon when they were struck by a westbound vehicle. The mother’s injuries were described as not life threatening and the child’s injuries were described as serious. Both were transported to a hospital, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol were not thought to have been factors, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
