A Richmond police motorcycle officer was injured in a collision on westbound Interstate Highway 80 this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
About 8 a.m., a Mercedes-Benz side-swiped the officer’s motorcycle in the far left highway lane near the Solano Avenue on-ramp in Richmond, CHP said.
The officer’s injuries are not considered life threatening, and he was taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to Bay City News wire service, citing a CHP spokesman. The Mercedes driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with officers, the BCN report stated.
The crash caused the closure of three highway lanes for about 30 minutes, according to CHP.
