Bay Area Rescue Mission sets out to ensure folks are fed on Thanksgiving

As it does every year, the Richmond-based Bay Area Rescue Mission has set out to ensure people in need are fed during the Thanksgiving holiday.

From now through Nov. 17, BARM is holding registration for eligible low-income residents who want to benefit from a Thanksgiving Food Bag Giveaway that’s occurring next week. Registration is taking place at BARM’s headquarters at 123 Macdonald Ave. daily from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The food bag giveaway will then take place on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 123 Macdonald Ave. Volunteers are being sought to help distribute the food boxes to community residents in need. To volunteer, click here.

“Food boxes will contain everything needed to ensure impoverished families are able to enjoy a complete meal for the holidays,” according to BARM officials.

On Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., BARM will then hold its Great Thanksgiving Banquet feeding homeless and hungry families from 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium at 403 Civic Center Plaza.
