With the Richmond Costco Wholesale store’s parking lot completely full during peak shopping hours, its general manager is asking the city to lift restrictions on parking on the streets surrounding the lot.

The curbs are currently red surrounding the parking lot at the Richmond Costco parking lot at 4801 Central Ave. — not just on Central but also on Isabel Street.

Tony Ewing, GM of the Richmond Costco, sent a letter to the city asking to allow limited parking along both Central and Isabel.

Richmond Wholesale wanted the curbs on both streets to have a four-hour maximum parking limit. However, city staff is recommending that the streets be modified to allow unlimited parking between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. and no parking between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The matter appears on Richmond City Council’s consent calendar for its upcoming Tuesday meeting.
