Hey Richmond! Send an email to help fuel your schools
Local community members have a chance to “fuel” their schools by simply sending an email.
From now through Nov. 10 (extended from the previous Oct. 31 deadline), the first 100 people to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org will receive a $10 e-card that they can use to help fund Richmond-based classroom projects. Fuel Your School supports local teachers who have made requests for supplies and other classroom-related items via DonorsChoose.org. Please include “Fuel Your School” in the subject line and sign up for your chance to help make a project become a reality.
As part of the annual Fuel Your School program, throughout the month of October Chevron donates $1 every time consumers fill up with eight or more gallons at a participating Chevron or Texaco station. The company has committed to donating up to $1 million this year to help fund eligible classroom projects for public schools in Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Specifically, the money will fund requests by local teachers on DonorsChoose.org.
Since 2010, the program has funded nearly 40,000 classroom projects at over 5,100 schools nationwide. For more information the program, visit our story from earlier this week when the Fuel Your School program held an event at Verde Elementary in North Richmond.
