Atlas Liquors clerk shot during robbery

A clerk at Atlas Liquors in El Cerrito was shot during a robbery on Friday night.

Two suspects are being sought in the shooting and robbery that occurred about 8:30 p.m. at the store at 11382 San Pablo Ave.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 49-year-old male clerk with a gunshot wound to his lower body, police said. He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and is expected to survive.’

The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. One was described as a black man, about 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing a light-colored sweat suit. The other was described as a black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build wearing a dark jacket and white jeans.

The suspects may have arrived at the store in a black, newer model, 4-door sedan but fled on foot, police said.
