Online fundraiser launched for burglarized Richmond Tool Library

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to recover losses from the recent burglary of the Richmond Tool Library (RTL), the new resource that allows residents to borrow tools for home and community projects using their library cards.

The burglary occurred Sept. 6 at RTL, located at the Richmond Recreation Complex at 3230 Macdonald Ave.

The crowdfunding campaign seeks to raise $2,500 to replace RTL’s laptop and window, restore its tool inventory, and purchase security equipment.

The community is encouraged to donate to the campaign by clicking here.

The Richmond Tool Library (website, Facebook) has over 200 members and has supported over 25 volunteer events since opening on Aug. 1, 2016.

“We hope the community will come together in this time of need to support us in recovering our losses,” RTL officials said. “We have been, and will continue to be, a free resource that allows our users to be self-sufficient, to take agency over their neighborhoods, and to build a more sustainable #RichmondCA.”
