Volunteers sought for California Coastal Cleanup events
The annual California Coastal Cleanup is this Saturday and volunteers are encouraged to join one of several in the Richmond area.
For the 27th year, Supervisor John Gioia is sponsoring the Richmond Marina shoreline cleanup based at Shimada Friendship Park, located at the end of Marina Bay Parkway. The event runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and includes coffee, snacks, supplies and free lunch.
Participants are asked to bring gloves, refillable water bottles, and a debris bucket if possible.
Additionally on Saturday, the East Bay Regional Park District is hosting Coastal Cleanup events throughout the East Bay including at Point Isabel Regional Shoreline (meet at 2701 Isabel St.) as well as Point Pinole Regional Shoreline (5551 Giant Hwy) in Richmond, with both events running from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
