Richmond restaurant owner delivers check for hurricane relief

Salute's to donate 100-percent of Friday sales to assist fire victims

Today, Menbere Aklilu, owner of the Salute E Vita restaurant in Marina Bay, presented a check to Richmond Mayor Tom Butt for $13,298.71 at Richmond City Hall.

That check will be delivered to the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Harvey, according to the mayor’s office.

As we reported last week, the charitable Aklilu dedicated 100-percent of the restaurant’s net sales from this past Friday’s service. Her employees provided an additional $350 out of their shift’s tips.
