Residents of Richmond, El Sobrante, Hercules, Pinole, San Pablo, El Cerrito, and unincorporated West County are invited to participate in the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5070 Appian Way.
Accepted items include electronic waste with circuit boards such as microwaves, computers, TVs and cellphones; auto products such as antifreeze, gasoline, batteries, used motor oil and filters; propane gas cylinders, hazardous aerosols, cleaners, sprays and poisons; paint, solvents, thinners and adhesives; household batteries, fluorescent lights, mercury thermometers and switches; garden products like pesticides and fertilizers.
“Hazardous household waste poses a threat to public health and our environment,” according to city officials. “Proper disposal of hazardous materials, including electronics, auto fluids, batteries and many other chemicals is key to protecting our communities, reducing illegal dumping, and keeping our living spaces safe for children and pets.”
