Veteran Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak is in stable condition after being shot about 5:30 a.m. today in the area of Carlson Boulevard and Imperial Way, police said.
Fellow Bay Area rapper Mistah Fab widely reported the incident in a since-deleted Instagram post. Police later confirmed with the Standard that Charles Kente Williams, 39, otherwise known as Oakland native Keak Da Sneak, was recovering from surgery following the shooting.
No suspects have been identified, Richmond police Lt. Felix Tan said.
The East Bay Times noted that the wounded rapper had been arrested in Hercules in May for violating probation, and was also arrested in September 2016 on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and evading a police officer.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the victim’s age. He is 39, according to RPD.
