Richmond's Luis 'Vicious' Garcia set for boxing redemption Saturday
Luis Garcia trains ahead of his high-profile bout against rival Eddie Diaz.

Richmond’s Luis “Vicious” Garcia talked about not being fully prepared when he suffered his one and only professional boxing loss to Eddie “El Diablo” Diaz in January.

Today, Garcia (7-1-1) told the Richmond Standard he’s excited to redeem himself this Saturday, Aug. 19, when he faces Diaz at Squarevision Entertainment’s Bay Area Titans III at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

“Feeling great coming into this fight,” Garcia said. “My preparation went well…I’m coming to this fight stronger and smarter. The outcome of this fight won’t be nothing like my first fight with Diaz.”

The two professional boxers are vying for the Square Warriors junior welterweight title.

In other bouts, Jose Iniguez of Stockton will fight for the Square Warriors lightweight title against Jesus Sandoval (5-10-3). Also, Richmond cruiserweight Fernando Caro will face Ignacio Zambrano.
