Police investigating two recent homicides in Richmond

Richmond police are searching for suspects in connection with two separate fatal shootings this month.

The latest homicide occurred Saturday about 2:30 a.m. in the area of Florida Ave. and Harbour Way South, Richmond police Sgt. Lynette Parker said. Police responded the area following an activation of the Shotspotter gun detection system and found the victim, identified as 46-year-old Mark Clay of Rohnert Park.

The homicide followed a fatal shooting that occurred about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 1, when a ShotSpotter activation sent police to Florida Avenue and Marina Way South. Keith A. Williams was found fatally shot near the intersection, Parker said.

“The police department is following up on leads, but there are no suspects or vehicles identified at this time,” she said.

Thus far in 2017, there have 11 homicides in Richmond, excluding the Aug. 2 fatal shooting of a suspect by Vallejo police officers in Richmond’s Hilltop neighborhood.
